It begins! First Tokyo iPhone5S buyer lines up for phone 10 days before it goes on sale

It’s become an annual ritual. Every year, Apple releases a modified version of a product already available and people begin to migrate towards the glowing white apple in their cities to congregate and await its glorious arrival.

This year, however, one Japanese iPhone5S user-to-be may have jumped the gun on his pilgrimage to the Apple store in Ginza, Tokyo. Arriving 10 days before its release, he sits patiently waiting for it to come.

The man who goes by the Twitter handle @xxxprius is chronicling the wait, because then again what else is he going to do?

The opening tweet from the middle of last night read, “At the moment I’m first in line. With 10 days until the iPhone5S goes on sale I lined up outside the Apple Store. This might be tough. lol”

The following day came more photos and tweets. “Finally, dawn on the first day.” he wrote, “It’s a little warmer, but the rain last night killed me.”

“The rain doesn’t stop at all. LINE’s weather forecast was totally wrong. LOL I want to take a nap.”

And if you have any questions, you can be sure he’ll have the time to answer them for you! Here he explains how he eats and uses his painfully outdated iPhone.

“There’s a Yoshinoya restaurant right out front. I prepared this to keep my mobile phone charged.”

Some netizens gave comments of support to the over-eager consumer wishing him luck with cheers of “Ganbatte!” Others questioned the young man’s employment situation to be able to do this.

One thing is for sure: the Apple Store Staff in Ginza better have some nose plugs and Lysol ready when they open their doors on the morning of 20 September.
